Peace Praying Ceremony in the Lunar New Year 2026
Update: 03/03/2026
On the full moon night of lunar January of the Horse's year (March 03rd, 2026), Hoang Phap Pagoda solemnly celebrated a Great Ceremony of Praying for peace in the country, safety in every home, and the eternal preservation of Buddhism.
Visiting temples to worship Buddha at the year's beginning is a beautiful tradition of Buddhists in particular and Vietnamese in general. On the full moon night of lunar January is a special day in Eastern culture, as it is the first full moon of lunar year, symbolizes fulfillment, completeness and good fortune under the full moon, as if harmonizing with the light of ten-direction Buddhas illuminating the pure heart within each person.
At 9 am, a solemn rite welcoming the venerable Sangha was stepped into the lecture hall 1 of Phap Luan Building.
Before the official rite opened, Junior Abbot Thich Tam Truong had some dharma words to all participants.
The Abbot reviewed the Buddha's teachings on the ten virtuous deeds that create blessing: generosity, virtue, mental cultivation, respect, service, transference of merit, rejoicing in others' merit, listening to the dharma, teaching the dharma, correct perception. In particular, taking refuge in the Three Jewels and complying with Five Precepts, such as refraining from killing, stealing, adultery, lying, and drug use is the path of virtue that leads us to peace, joy, and happiness in this life.
Next, the monks performed the ritual of offering incense to the Buddha altar and together with the mass chanted prayers for peace. In the solemn atmosphere of the Dharma Hall, the smoke from the incense offered to the Three Jewels blended with the pure hearts of the Buddha's disciples, creating a vast energy field of peace, compassion, joy and happiness. At the moments, anxiety, worry, or suffering no longer had a chance to exist in the hearts of the attendees. This is how we pray for peace for ourselves, our families, society, and our country as in the Head-Master 's verses for Buddhists at the year's beginning:
