Ullumbana Ceremony at Dong Cao Pagoda- Thanh Hoa

In response to the invitation of Junior Venerable Thich Tam Hung, in the morning of August 8th, 2014 (on July 13th, Horse Year), Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh came to witness the Ullumbana ceremony at Dong Cao pagoda- Nga Yen village- Nga Son district- Thanh Hoa province

Dong Cao Pagoda was built a long time, and has not had the\r\nabbot to guide Buddhists to practice for years. With a great love for\r\nBuddhist’s longing for the dharma and with a young monk’s enthusiasm, Junior\r\nVenerable Thich Tam Hung vowed to come here such as a messenger of the Buddha\r\nto guide Buddhists to find the right path. From his guidance to practice, this\r\nis the first time Buddhists attended the majestic and significant Ceremony of\r\nUllumbana.

Presenting to prove the ceremony, Senior Venerable Thich\r\nChan Tinh praised the spirit of dharma devotion from Junior Venerable Thich Tam\r\nHung and the spirit of the Buddhists’ cultivation. By means of the Ceremony\r\nUllumbana, he reminded them to behavior their filial piety to their parents and\r\nexpress one’s deep gratitude to teachers, country and living beings, which\r\nimplies their entire meaning in Ullumbana pious filial. Besides, he also\r\nreminded them of regularly going to pagoda to practice, especially young people\r\nto maintain traditional morality inherence from thousands of years of the\r\ncountry.

In the afternoon, the Senior Venerable lighting ascent\r\npraying to transmits the Triratna refuge and five precepts for two hundreds\r\ngood men and believing women at Dong Cao pagoda. In the refuge, he instructed\r\nthe meaning of three refuges, five precepts and a Buddhist’s majestic gestures.\r\nAfter three refuges and received five precepts, each received a certificate and\r\na gift including a book “Brief Story of Shakyamuni Buddhaâ€,†Three Refuges and\r\nFive Precepts†and a VCD “Buddhist’s Mannersâ€.
