Buddhist News of Ven. Thich Chan Tinh
Two Dharma Affairs in One-Day Retreat in Nha Trang
Update: 08/07/2015
In the afternoon of July 5th, 2015 (May 20th, The Goat Year), Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh, who was invited by Abbot Thich Tri Vien, visited Ky Vien Trung Nghia pagoda, 132 Sinh Trung street, Nha Trang city; in order to have a dharma talk to the Buddhists.
There are some Buddhists who visited many pagodas, their voices are really sounded at reciting the sutra, but they are lack ofSamyagdrsti (the right view), when hearing something which turn their greedy heart on, they sink into it. Example: when hearing someone who is sacred for wealth, they would arrive there. When it is heard that there were a saint who gives miracle, they would come to him. They even believe in good or bad timing, the stars which reflect the destiny, ect. The Buddha teaches us “We polute ourselves, we cleaned ourselves. No one does that for. us†Buddhists must deeply trust in the law of cause and effect. All the good and bad things in our life are made by us, what we do causes the effects. There is no saints or deities who have the right to give mercy or disaster to anyone. The Buddhists must have the Samyagdrsti. If we want to have Samyagdrsti, we must listen. Therefore, we wouldn’t get into superstitions. If we do not understand things, we should asked our teachers or Venerables to have the right advices before we do; that would bring us best results.
In the evening of the day, he visited Ngoc Diep Vihara, 6th Hong Tinh Street, Nha Trang City, which belongs to Abbot Thich Giac Nghiem.
An hour passed by, the Venerable had the subject “Who is the one who fears the death?â€
According to Venerable, there are three types of people who are afraid to die:
1/ The greedy people of properties. They don’t want their property to be used by others after they died.
2/ The people who can’t leave wives, hudbands, children. The sensuality makes them stay with them. They had friends when they were still alive but they died lonely.
3/ The people who did evil things. When doing those thing, they didn’t think about the consequences. Until they are dying, they started to scare of hell, demons, being animals in the next life.
For Buddhists, they understand the sutra and know that their bodies are just fake and temporary, which are lead to by causal origination. We don’t have property, and husbands, wives or children do not belongs to us. Moreover, the Buddhists who have already studies the sutra and don’t do bad things would not be afraid of the death. A true Buddhist will not be afraid of the death.
At the end of the day, the Senior Venerable granted them VCD of “Don’t Enthuse in Strange Things.â€
