Two Buddhist Missions On Day

On April 19, 2014 (Lunar March 20th Sneak Year), in response to Abbot Thich Minh Tam’s invitation, Senior Ven Thich Chan Tinh came to Linh So Phap An pagoda, Suoi Cat ward, Cam Lam province, Khanh Hoa to have a dharma talk for Buddhists of one-day-chanting cultivation

Linh Son Phap An Pagoda is known to organize the\r\nground-breaking ceremony of the Buddha Hall’s restoration. By this important\r\nevent, Senior Ven. preached about the story of layman Anathapindika when the\r\nBuddha had existed. He was a rich business person and got grave compassion to\r\nthe poor. Once, He arrived to Rajagrha citadel for his career, fortunately, he\r\nmet the Buddha. After the Buddha’s dharma talk ended, his mind is enlightened;\r\nhe invited the Buddha and Monks to his country for preaching. The Buddha\r\naccepted his requesting. Immediately, he returned to his homeland to look for a\r\nsuitable land to build a monastery. The place where he likes best is the Jeta\r\nprince’s garden. He came to require for his barter. The Prince answered that if\r\ngold were fully covered to his garden, he would sell it for the bourgeois.\r\nThese words overcharge buyer. Unbelievably, layman Anathapindika accepted and\r\napproved to monastery’s construction. After that, he required the Buddha and\r\nSangha to stay and have preaching.

Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh recommended Buddhists that\r\nthey should highly appreciate more wisdom than properties from Anathapindika.\r\nWhy is it, because he recognized the value of dharma. When everybody listens,\r\npractices, follows the Buddha’s teachings, they will gain the happiness, peace\r\nfor their own, family, society and this world will become the Pure Land.

Supporting for popular Dharma, it is a necessary to build a\r\npagoda, the place helping Sangha’s cultivation, accommodation, and preach, So,\r\nAnathapindika spent his property for alm-giving the monastery. May Buddhist\r\nrecognize and cooperate with the Abbot soon completing the Buddha Hall for the\r\nSangha’s retreat and Buddhists’ cultivation.

At the end of the preaching, each Buddhist received a VCD of\r\n“The Ceremony of the Buddhas Birthday in 2013”.

In the dharma talk, the Senior Venerable told four main\r\ntopics, which Buddhists need to practice in their life: listening, precept,\r\nalms-giving, and wisdom. Listening is hearing and learning. This is the first\r\nstep that the Buddhist must learn from the dharma. If we study correctly, we\r\nwill exactly understand, the practices of which will bring the truly happy\r\nresults at present and in the future. Precept is the five basic precepts for\r\nlaypeople at home. It is the moral foundation of samadhi (meditation) and\r\nwisdom. The loss of precepts is not only miserable in current life but also\r\ndifficult in a human afterlife. Buddhists need to preserve them as their own\r\nlife. Donation is giving, offering It includes properties, dharma and security.\r\nMaterial donation is to give cash, power, and service for help. Dharma donation\r\nis using dharma to recommend turning the good and improvement. Fearless\r\ndonation is to help people in security. Wisdom is the correct knowledge of the\r\nFour Noble Truths, of the world from causal condition, impermanence, suffering,\r\nand non-ego. Understanding and practicing these four dharmas, the Buddhists\r\nwill attain right practice. Then, the Venerable told another story of “The old\r\nman losing a horse” in Co Hoc Tinh Hoa and four characteristics of a good,\r\ntamed horses taught in Angutara Nikaya.

At the end of the preaching, each Buddhist was granted a VCD\r\nof “Ceremony of Buddhas Birthday in 2013”.
