Three Buddhist affairs a day in the Highland

On Sunday of December 21st, 2014 (on October 30th, Horse year), Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh had a Buddhist affair tour in the sunny and windy highland.

Firstly, the Senior Venerable visited Ngoc Quang Monastery –\r\nThang Loi Ward – Buon Ma Thuot City – whose Abbot is Monk Thich Giac Phuong.\r\nThen, with the instruction of Junior Venerable Thich Giac Pho, Senior Venerable\r\nThich Chan Tinh visited the monastery and shared some Buddha-dharma affairs\r\nwith Buddhists cultivating there. In his share, the Senior Ven. talked about\r\nhis causes for leaving home and cultivating as well as encouraged Buddhists to\r\nbe diligent in their cultivation to have peace in the present and rescue in the\r\nfuture.

In the afternoon, the Senior Ven. came to Thang Dat Pagoda -\r\nHamlet 1, Hoa Thuan Commune, Buon Ma Thuot City – whose the Abbot is Junior\r\nVenerable Thich Phap Lac. Thang Dat Pagoda is located in the suburb of Buon Ma\r\nThuot City. It is a village pagoda with incomplete infrastructure. Since the\r\ntime Junior Venerable Thich Phap Lac has become its abbot, he gradually built\r\nand created good conditions for Buddhists to have a chance to come to the\r\npagoda for cultivating and practicing Buddha’s teachings.

At 14h, the Senior Ven. had a Buddha-dharma talk with more\r\nthan 300 Buddhists there. In spite of fairly cool, the Buddhists took the\r\nshares from the Senior Ven. attentively and joyfully with their love in\r\ncultivation. In the dharma talk, the Senior Ven. taught that: “As a Buddhist,\r\nwe have to do believe in the law of causality. When doing or saying something,\r\nwe should think about its good or bad results. Nobody has the right to bless or\r\nblame us, all are causes by ourselves. If we sow bad causes, we absolutely will\r\nget bad effects. On the contrary, good causes will lead to good effects. When\r\nhaving a belief in the law of causality, we will not moan like hell nor commit\r\nin superstitious things which can make us spend money and only get worse\r\nand lead to breakage of the family. That is a true Buddhist.”

In the evening, respond to the invitation of Monk Thich Tam\r\nDinh, the Abbot of Pho Quang Pagoda at Tien Dat Hamlet, Quang Tien Commune, CuMgar District,\r\nDak Lak, the Senior Ven. visited the pagoda and shared Buddha-dharma with\r\nBuddhists on the occasion of its monthly repentance ceremony. “Repent” means\r\nknowing our faults, “regret” means showing remorse and commit not to repeat it.\r\nSo, repentance means repenting and regretting for the past faults, regardless\r\nof the time, now or in the future, we will not repeat it. If recognizing the\r\nold faults and repenting in the present but repeating it then, it is not called\r\nrepentance in Buddhism.

At the ending of the talk, the Buddhists at the pagodas were\r\ngiven VCDs named “Nhu Voi Giua Tran” (like the elephants in the middle of the\r\nbattle) by the Senior Venerable.
