The third teaching of Summer Retreat at Tay Khanh pagoda – Thai Binh

What would you do in summer vacation? Would you plan a trip to renowned resorts or go back to your hometown where you can enjoy the scenery and some fresh air? For a lot of youngsters, a significantly different way has been chosen, which is going to pagodas to join the Summer Retreat in the hope of nurturing their body and mind, bettering themselves and preparing well for their life.
On June 27th, 2017 (June 4th, Rooster Year), about 400 youngsters officially joined the third Summer Retreat with the theme“My Return to Buddha Refugeâ€, which was organized at Tay Khanh Pagoda, Cao Mai Hamlet, Quang Hung Village, Kien Xuong District, Thai Binh Province.
In the morning, students gathered outside the pagoda to register the Summer Retreat.
At 2 PM, allstudentof the Summer Retreat gathered together and recited the Buddha in order to honour allhonouredones when they entered the hall. And then, these honoured ones shared some first courses of the Summer Retreat.
Junior Venerable Thich Tam Kinh – the Head of Tay Khanh Pagoda and the Chief Organizer of the Summer Retreat –instructedsome rules as well as the Buddha’s teaching with students on the first day of the Summer Retreat.
After that,JuniorVenerable Thich Tam Thien andJuniorVenerable Thich Tam Manh showed the majestic demeanour of Buddhist followers andtalk aboutBuddha’sfundamental teachings with those who joined the Summer Retreat.
In the evening, the monks showed students how to recite the Ullambana sutra and sit in deep meditation.
After these first minutes,theyofficially entered the Summer Retreat, which had a lot of useful and interesting courses based on the spirit of thedharma.It ispromised thattheywould gain a lot of new and helpful thingsfromthis Summer Retreat.
