The Second Day of Summer Retreat 2019

In the morning of July 22th, 2019 (June 20th, LC), the second day of the retreat, after breakfast all students grouped at the lecture hall for listening to Dharma Talk from Ven. Thich Tam Tien on the title of “Don’t Just Do Something! Sit There”.

Go and find yourself
Find the one you love".

After three echoing bells, the young people listened to the sharing of Venerable Master on the matter of sit down and do nothing to feel the peace and happiness inside. He pointed out that we need a clear orientation, “data collection” to create our future.

We normally build ourselves through three images: People who follow what society wants them to be, people who want to show themselves in society, and people who live as they are. Thereby he gave some words to these three kinds of people:

· For the first one: take it slowly to have clear sight in life

· For the second one: take it slowly a bit for self-reflecting

· For the third one: it’s time to find yourself, don’t just move around.

No one takes the wrong style for their life, just various performance makes the multi colorful of life.

Spending more than an hour sharing, Thay wants the young people to learn how to be yourself, take a real-life, be slow for making the meaning of life. Don’t follow what people want, don’t chase what people drive you away, find the beauty from the practical life not daydreaming.

Then he sent to all a song composed by himself as a farewell gift before leaving the temple to continue the MA course at Harvard University, USA.

 In the afternoon, there is a Q-A time between students and the monk.
