The rite of Dharma thanking at Dong Cao pagoda

On Jan. 03rd, 2022, devout Buddhists returned to Dong Cao pagoda in Thanh Hoa province to participate in the rite of Dharma thanking, year-end summation, Three Jewels' gratitude and the people supported the pagoda’s firm practice.

The participants offered incense to Late Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, reviewing his life and practicing mindfulness under instruction by Junior Thich Tam Hung, abbot of Dong Cao Pagoda.

After that, the abbot conducted the recitation of mantras, five precepts of lay Buddhists, and practiced the ritual of setting free animals.

At 10:00 a.m., the ceremony of summarizing Buddhist activities in 2021 took place. This occasion, the people gathered together to review a year of their practice. Last year, the pagoda had 4 families meeting the "Buddhist Family" standard and 9 Buddhists achieving "Diligent Buddhist". Although the epidemic situation was complicated last year, the temple also performed good deeds with a total amount of 223,620,000 VND.

At the end of the ceremony, the mass had a year-end party and gave more than 60 gift portions, each with an amount of 450,000 VND (envelope: 300,000 VND, 1 (box) of noodles, 1 (bottle) of oil, 1 ( kg) sugar...)
