The Requiem for Traffic Accident Victims at Linh Son Pagoda

On the morning of Oct. 29th, 2016 (lunar Sep. 29th, Monkey year) many monks, nuns, Buddhists, and victims’ relatives of traffic safety in Hoc Mon District came to attend the requiem for traffic accident victim that is solemnly held by The Vietnamese Buddhist Congregation and authorities at various level in Hoc Mon District at Linh Son pagoda, Ba Diem commune, Hoc Mon District, Ho Chi Minh city.

In the witness and attendance of all the honoured ones of Hoc Mon district’s Vietnamese Buddhist Congregation, the leader of executive committee, leader of the police in Hoc Mon district, Ho Chi Minh City, monks and nuns, abbots of pagodas, Venerable of Hoang Phap pagoda, Buddhists from Bodhimandala came to attend.

Responding to the program “Decade of Activities for Road Safety2011-2020 period” of the UN General Assembly, implementing the work program of traffic safety in 2016, in response to “The global day of commemoratingthe deaths due to traffic accident” in Vietnam in 2016, the requiem for traffic accident victims was solemnly celebratedon the slogan “Commemoration those who left, For those who stay” and “Human life is above all”

In solemn and touched atmosphere of the ceremony, on behalf of all levels of government, Mr. Bui Ngoc Quy had the opening statement, called on the relevant authorities at local, administrative units, organizations and individuals and all the people to raise awareness of abiding by the law on traffic safety, and join hands to share losses, the loss of the victims, families of traffic accident victims let the joy of happiness, safety and integral peace to every citizen when travelling in traffic or the ones at home.

As Standing Committee Representative of Hoc Mon district’s The Vietnamese Buddhist Congregation, Most Venerable Monk Thich Thien Minh – Head of BTS had a speech.

Then, the Venerables and delegates offered incense and celebrated the requiem. The whole of Buddhists were directed toward the Triratna solemnly. All were of one mind to pray that traffic accident victims go beyond the cycle of death and rebirth, wishing for peace to beings, wishing for living and working in peace and contentment in all year round, prayed for mindfulness while travelling in traffic, improving the sense of observing traffic laws…

In the ceremony, Buddhist management board of district combined with local government had gifts to the relatives of traffic accident victims who have particularly difficult living in order to share and relieve the mind and material to the victims’s families.

The ceremony of commemoration for traffic accident victims ended after the speech expressing the gratitude from the organization board.
