Update: 04/11/2013
In the morning of November 3rd, 2013 (October 1st, Snake Year), Hoang Phap Pagoda organized one-day cultivation on the 9th in 2013.
As usual, the one-day cultivation will be planned “The\r\nBuddha’s Dharma Light†program in each even lunar month. On this day, there\r\nwere three questions sent by email for this program including about The Pure\r\nLand. The questions were answered fully and briefly by Junior Venerable Thich\r\nPhap Dang – the abbot of Hue Vien pagoda (in Thong Nhat district, Dong Nai\r\nprovince). Venerable Thich Chan Tinh, the abbot of Hoang Phap temple also had\r\nsame opinion with him to motivate diligent practice from Buddhists . The Venerable\r\npointed out that today, many Buddhists follow the sect of the Pure Land, but\r\nthey did not master it and neglected the responsibility of at-home Buddhists.\r\nTherefore, he advised that: "All consequences must be reviewed by your\r\ndeeds.â€

Following are specific questions:
\r\n\r\n
Question 1: Apart from Parinamana session, after recitation,\r\nthere is the sentence: “Make a vow to be reborn in the West Pure Land, the nine\r\nholy values of lotus as the parents†Truthfully I do not understand about The\r\nPure Land Sect. What is ‘the nine holy values of lotus?’ Why do we call the\r\nnine values of lotus blossom as our parents? Would you answer that?
\r\n\r\n
Question 2: The Buddha and all the honored ancestors taught\r\nthat cultivation essentially means attaining peace at present and enlightenment\r\nin the future. I practice The Pure Land sect and is reciting Buddha s’ names\r\nfor the reborn of Western Pure Land as the same to enlightenment cultivation?\r\nWhich differences are these? Would you happily explain the word “enlightenmentâ€\r\nin Buddhism?
\r\n\r\n
Question 3: In this rushing life, due to lack of\r\nconsideration, I refused a living fetus of mine. It is not enough for me that I\r\nalso instructed my best friend to do so. Now, it has become an obsession on me\r\nthough I have usually gone to pagoda for reciting the Buddha s’ names. I always\r\nlive in regret, guilt and fear. I do not know what to do now. I wonder that the\r\nmerit of my cultivation for long could free souls from suffering and erase my\r\ncurrent obsession or not? Please give me some advices, Master!
