The Great Ullambana Ceremony 2022 at Can mon Pagoda, Nghe An

On August 7th, 2022, Can Mon pagoda (Nghe An province), belonging to Hoang Phap pagoda 's custom solemnly held the great Ullambana Ceremony.

The ceremony was demonstrated by Senior Thich Minh Huong, Head of Director Board of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha/ VBS in Nghe An; Junior Thich Tam Hieu, Head of International Buddhist Board of VBS in Nghe An, Abbot of Can Mon Pagoda, Head of the ceremony’s Organizer and venerable monks in Hoang Phap Pagoda.

On the government, there is the Head of District's Public Relation Broad Nguyen Dinh Te; Head of town Military Command Le Xuan Quynh; Secretary of the Ward Party Committee Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong; Chairman of People's Committee of Quynh Phuong ward, Mr. Ho Xuan Huong, representatives of local leaders and more than 2,000 good followers attended the ceremony.

On behalf of the participants, Buddhist Lien Van read "The meaning of pinning roses" full of emotions about mother's love.

After Buddhists offering six items to venerables, Junior Thich Tam Hieu gave words about the origin of Ullambana festival and the filial piety towards Arhat Maudgalyayana’s mother. Next, Senior Thich Minh Huong encouraged and praised the Abbot and the ashram, as well as the authorities at all levels for creating favorable conditions for the development of Can Mon Pagoda.

It rained continuously and sometimes it rained heavily throughout the morning from 7:00 a.m to 12:00, but the ceremony was still held solemnly. Then, over 2,000 meals were served thoughtfully for good men and women to attend.

In the afternoon, there is the ceremony of taking refuge in the Three Jewels offering food to alone souls and freeing out creatures.

The meaning ritual was successful and full of moving.
