On the occasion of coming Vesak Day 2558 BE, Senior\r\nVenerable Thich Chan Tinh advised the mass to study clearly about the life of\r\nthe Buddha and to follow the Buddha’s examples in cultivation in which there\r\nare the following characteristics we should notice:
\r\n\r\n
1/ Causality: He is supposed to have in good\r\nappearance of 32 signs of the Great man at birth; he was born in a Royal\r\nfamily, a paramount power status, with a full enjoyment of five desires of the\r\nworld.
\r\n\r\n
2/ Transcendent wisdom: When He walked through four citadel\r\ngates and saw the old, the sick, the death people and the monks, He immediately\r\nrecognized the lifes impermanence , human sufferings and non-self.
\r\n\r\n
3/ Determination to leave the dusty world of passion and\r\ndelusion: He is resolved to give up the luxuries of his palace life,\r\nthrone that he would succeed to, leave beautiful wife and nice children, five\r\ndesires and decided to become a monk to find out the truth.
\r\n\r\n
4/ Patience and decisiveness: Spending many years learning\r\nthe truth and practicing ascetic life without getting his purpose, He\r\ncame to the foot of the Bodhi tree and vowed that if He did not attain\r\nenlightenment, he would not leave that place.
\r\n\r\n
5/ Lofty affection: From his enlightenment until\r\nnirvana, the Buddha devoted all his time to propagation, brought human\r\nbeings the light of truth and save them from delusion to return to the\r\npath of truth.
\r\n\r\n
These are some main good characteristics about the\r\nlife of the Buddha for us to learn. The Senior Venerable spent over an hour\r\ninterpreting the five items.
