My name is Ngoc Thuy Thi Phan, a student of Math Grade 3A of\r\nMathematics and Informatics Department, 37th AcademicYear in Ho Chi Minh\r\nCity University of Pedagogy.
\r\n\r\n
My hometown is Nghe An province but I was born and grew up\r\nin Dak Lak province. My father is a war-disabled person ranked ¾; he has\r\nretired for 3 years and my mother will also retire this year later. Although I\r\nam only child in my family, I can’t allow myself to depend on others because of\r\nsome years of hard-work on parents’ farms and some decades of my father’s\r\nasthma or some months of shoulder pain of my mother; those make me exert\r\ncontinuously my actions. Every step of the way I had gone was with the determined\r\nwill of mine. My family situation is more stable than difficult peers.\r\nAttending the university is my fortune.
\r\n\r\n
Ngoc Ky Nguyen, my teacher, said: “Don’t waste the time of\r\nyouth. If we know to try our best today, we will achieve anything tomorrow.†During\r\nthe years of high school was disclosed my unability to achieve any\r\naccomplishments or outstanding awards that a resume should have granted\r\nscholarships. Therefore, when entering the university, I promised myself I\r\nwould change. Nothing is too late for us to know what our dreams are and where\r\nwe are in the journey to conquer these dreams.
\r\n\r\n
This belief was reinforced when I had a chance to read the\r\nbook “I am gifted, so are you†and “Master your thought, and design your\r\ndestiny†by Adam Khoo. Being a student who surprised about something at the\r\nfirst semester of the freshman, I only knew to learn hard with traditional\r\nmethods; as a result, I ranked the fifth in my class. Next semesters, I rose up\r\nto rank the first of full 37th academic year of Mathematics-Informatics\r\ndepartment. I realize what we gained from 3 years in high school, and the kind\r\nof accomplishments as 12 years of an excellent student in success. Those are\r\ntoo small to compare with the independence in order to affirm myself, and the\r\nsystem of belief and the positive values of life which is the most important.
\r\n\r\n
I learnt and worked more seriously with clear-cut goals,\r\nsensible strategies and firm actions and always transferred failures into\r\nexperiences. With the passion of mathematics in early childhood, I had solved\r\nmathematics exercises several times with my father and came into contact with\r\nthe contests of good students, which contributed to form a mathematical\r\npersonality in myself nowadays. Apart from studying at school, I also attended\r\nseveral extracurricular activities such as cultural performances, playing\r\nsoccer, etc. and achieved the title “A Student of Five Best Deedâ€, linking with\r\nassociations of Mathematics-Informatics in schoolyear 2011-2012…
\r\n\r\n
This year, I’m a junior student and I will graduate next\r\nyear. My goal is to strive for TOEIC English degree and pass the Master of\r\nAlgebra after completing four years of Mathematics Pedagody. Currently, I teach\r\nmyself in English together with my majors at the university and participated in\r\nthe supplimentary Mathemactical Olympiad. The tuition of studying Master and\r\nEnglish courses is also a part of burden that worries in the future.
\r\n\r\n
I myself realize that I may not be an elite student to\r\ncompare with former students, classmates and the next generations now. However,\r\nI believe in myself that I am the one who has abilities. Please give me a\r\nfulcrum to make these ambitions of 20-year-old young people. I sincerely thank\r\nHoang Phap pagoda and benefactors who establish the scholarship funds “The\r\nCultivation of Intelligenceâ€; which helps and startthe inspiring flames for\r\npoor students like us.
