Dharma Light
The 65th Dharma Light Program
Update: 06/01/2019
On Jan. 6th, 2019, devout Buddhists from inside and outside HCMC came to Hoang Phap to join the One-day practice. This time, we continue the 65th Dharma Light Program.
Accepted the invitation of Hoang Phap organizers, Ven. Thich Phap Dang, Hue Vien’s Abbot, located in Dong Nai, present to answer the question issue in the program.
My urban hometown also has a small temple and people come daily to do sutra chanting, but still can’t popularize as the city temples. Devout Buddhists mostly get old-age and they keep strongly some bad behaviors as sitting-keep, roughing-talk, chatting about who makes nice chanting and who are not, which temple should offer, which shouldn’t be…
I really felt wrong hearing these things but don’t know how to do, so please make clear in their behaviors and point out to all Buddhists how to avoid such matters. It’s hard for us to live in the countryside, far from the central Buddhist teaching, we really get confused in practice.
Question 2:
Dear Venerable,
Yearly, when the new year comes, people go to the temple doing offering and praying for their family wealth, health, fortune,… I don’t think this is the right way to do as a Buddhist but kind of superstition. Please give me some teaching and show me the right prayer to avoid superstition and compatible with the Buddha teaching.
Thanks for your kind!
After the explanation from Ven. preacher, Ven. Thich Chan Tinh had some saying, to sum the questions issued and introducing his two books are on the way to publish.
