Dharma Light
The 63rd Dharma Light Program
Update: 16/07/2018
On July 15th, 2018, devout Buddhists from inside and outside HCMC came to Hoang Phap to join the One-day practice. This time, we continue the 63rd Dharma Light Program.
Accepted the invitation of Hoang Phap organizers, Ven. Thich Tri Minh, lecturer of the Vietnamese Buddhist Institute, present to answer the question issue in the program.
I am a single teacher, 40 years old. I have joy from chatting sutra every day in the temple and joining the Practice Day organized here, and I really really feel happy. Recently, my aunt and my friends asked me to do artificial insemination to get baby then present I have joy and later I have someone to rely on. But I myself don’t like it.
Dear Venerable, is it wrong for me to take a single life? And according to Buddhism, artificial insemination is correct or not and the thought of my aunt and my friends are correct or incorrect?
Dear Venerable, why only temporary reciting the Buddha’s name can give a great fruit more than doing giving in hundred years? Please give me an explanation that I can understand and put more effort into practice.
Question 3:
The Buddha said: “It’s difficult to be born as a human, but it’s more difficult to see Dharma”. We are so lucky to have both. However, to understand the Buddha’s teaching as well as apply it to practice correctly it’s not simple. There are so many ways to get the right choice. This monk teaches like this, that one address another… we’re really confused to follow. Life is short and impermanent, the Buddha had taught, and we have a lot of duty to do in worldly life, give us some good advice.
By the way, please tell me the core teaching for the lay people as the Buddha’s words. We want to know. Please kindly give us good advice for the most benefit in the present and future.
