Dharma Light
The 62nd Dharma Light Program
Update: 21/05/2018
On May 20th, 2018, devout Buddhists from inside and outside HCMC came to Hoang Phap to join the One-day practice. This time, we continue the 62nd Dharma Light Program.
Accepted the invitation of Hoang Phap organizers, Ven. Thich Phuoc Tien, Vice Secretary-General Buddhist Search Institute, member of the Dharma Promulgation of Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha, the Abbot of Tuong Van Monastery, present to answer the queries issue in the program.
Question 1:
Dear Venerable,
I have a son, he’s a student now. Recent times he follows the lure of people belong to the group named “The Gods club”, ignores his study and spends the time to spread the ideal of this group. I told him it’s a trap, it’s illusion, give up and come back to your study, but he ignores me. They also ask him to destroy our ancestor altar. Not stop there, he also had some strange acts like taking less food, no bathing and chanting Bible all the time.
Our family now don’t know how to take him back, so I present it and hope you find the way. I really get suffer because of this “Gods club”. How can people destroy all the Vietnamese tradition by denying relative-worshiping!
Question 2:
Dear Venerable,
Lately, we heard about a new branch of Zen Buddhism appeared in Long An. The organizers said they took the “secret dharma” from the Buddha to follow and guide people. When I heard some preach from them, they really guide people to the way of gods but saying it’s not superstition. Before I read Mahaparinirvana sutra in Majjhima Nikaya, it mentioned that “Ananda, my Dharma gives to you has no any secret left, I am not kind of master who still hold something in hand for myself (what I know already give to you)”.
Then Venerable, please say something to confirm if the secret dharma exists, and the Tan Dieu Zen Buddhism in Long An belongs to any types of Zen Buddhism from China? Should I warn people to avoid? I really recognize the more they preach, the more they lead people far from the teaching of the Buddha.
