On Nov 15th, 2015 (Lunar Oct, 4th, Goat Year), many Buddhists inside and outside HCM city attended the 9th one - day cultivation course at Hoang Phap Pagoda. On this course, the organizers keep holding the 53rd Dharma Light program.
Accepting the organizers’ invitation, Junior Venerable Thich Phap Dang – deputy management committee, head of Viet Nam’s Buddhist Congregation Thong Nhat district, Hue Vien pagoda’s Abbot, Thong Nhat district, Dong Nai province, came to ashram to verify question in the program.
Question 1: Dear Dharma Light’s Organizers!
I have just learnt about Buddhism lately, I found out that Buddhism is very good, but it seems to be separated and inapplicable from life. For example, if everyone goes for religious life, who will defend our country, who will take care of our family? How can we cultivate when we are in married status, facing evil but reacting mercifully, we consequently get disadvantages for ourselves and the others. I deeply wish to be explained those concerns. Thank you!
Question 2: Dear Venerables!
I would like to help financially some people with fishing instrument, so they can have stable means for their work. As a devout Buddhist, following Buddha teaching, we should not kill, ask or facilitate other people kill creature. However, with this help, do I create a good condition for people to slaughter? Assistance will usually get blessing, but on this case, do I commit a killing karma? How can I support them properly?
I will appreciate your answers!
Question 3: Dear Venerable!
I am a married female Buddhist with a 3 year-old child. Before getting married, I have not learnt and understood Buddhism. After married, I awakened Buddhism casually, so I desired to be a Buddhist nun for cultivating and relieving. This desire is growing stronger everyday right in my family which was considered a happy one ever. On the other hand, I can feel a misery deep inside that happiness, and I want to cultivate even more. I would like to ask, if I decide to become a nun. Am I a delinquent wife, a guilty mother or not? I’m waiting for your advice.
Thank you!
After answering all the questions, Venerable Thich Chan Tinh, Program Director, gave some commendations and advised Buddhists have to have a wise awareness about their practice. Thus, we will hold a peaceful and truly happiness life at present and in the future.
The mass subsequently participated in elaborating scheduled walking meditation as usual.
On this one-day cultivation, VCDs of “Accumulating wealth or morality†were offered to attend Buddhists as a gift.
The cultivation course was concluded with everyone delightedness.
