In June 29th, 2014 (June 03rd, Horse Year), on the occasion of one-day retreat in the fifth period, Hoang Phap pagoda continued to held the 46th program of Buddhist Dharma Light. Thousands of Buddhist believers in HCMC as well as many neighboring provinces returned to attend.

In this content of Buddhist Dharma Light, Junior Venerable\r\nThich Tam Nguyen, the monks of Hoang Phap Pagoda answered many questions\r\non the topic: Leaving Home for Cultivating.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nQUESTIONS OF THE 46th PROGRAM OF BUDDHIST DHARMA LIGHT
\r\n\r\nQuestion 1:
\r\n\r\nMy wife and I are nearly seventy years old. We took Triratna\r\nrefuge long time ago. At present, we are deciding to keep the Rules of\r\nBoddhisattva. We vow to cut off the hair, wear royal robes and cultivating as\r\nhome-leaving people. However, we just are really laypeople. When we feel\r\nhealth, we come to pagoda to cultivate with the monks and the mass; when we get\r\nsick or another time, we cultivate at home. Do we need to change form as a\r\nhome-leaving people? May I be given some advice?
\r\n\r\nWe would be grateful.
\r\n\r\nQuestion 2:
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nI’m a student. After having attended the Retreat for\r\nstudents, I think that I could leave my home for cultivation. My mother and\r\naunt feel happy and support me, but my father and grandparents are protest\r\nbecause they do not believe in The Three Gems and have high expectation on me.\r\nI intend that after graduating, I will secretly leave a letter on my desire to\r\nthe family then will become a monk. I don’t know whether I make mistake when my\r\nfather and my grandparents are assumed to feel sad and they will pour their\r\nanger to my mother and aunt. I don’t know how I can do to achieve my wish.\r\nPlease give me some advice that I can do my perfect duty to my family and leave\r\nhome as my vow.

\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nQuestion 3:
\r\n\r\nI have a question please answer for me.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nI don’t know whether homosexual people are allowed to leave\r\nhome. If they can’t, would you explain it clearly. As I know, Buddhism is equal\r\nin the mass and discriminates to all. In the world recently, most countries\r\npass the law forbidding differentiation to the homosexuals. In this case, if\r\nthey can’t leaving home, the Buddhism is considered an equal and in\r\ndifferentiable religion.
\r\n\r\nMay you interpret my confusion?
\r\n\r\nI would appreciate your explanation.
\r\n\r\nAfter the program finished, all Buddhists came into\r\ncultivation retreat as usual.
\r\n\r\nIn this one-day retreat, a VCD named “Stability in Progressâ€\r\nwas given to each.
