The 14th Sun Flower Program

On December 31st, 2017 (Nov 14, lunar calendar) Hoang Phap Pagoda keeps on its 14th Sun Flower program, with the subject "Duyen" (compounded condition). The main character of this time is Buddhist businesswoman Dang Thi Kim Oanh - General Director of Kim Oanh real estate company.

Kim Oanh is the youngest daughter in a poor family of 10 siblings in Thua Thien Hue. Because her father was sick, she and her brothers/sisters had to strive to make a living. At the age of 13, she dropped out of school to earn money supporting her family. She got married at the age of 20. Regardless large effort from the young couple, life was still terribly difficult in deprivation ... In 2001, Kim Oanh and her husband decided to move to Ho Chi Minh City for resettlement. They first rent a small place to live and sell grocery. Thanks to hardworking and good luck, she could open a series of three stores within 3 years. Nevertheless, net income from this business was not good due to severe competition in market. In 2005, her family moved to Binh Duong to search for new opportunity.

At this new place, she opened a café doing things from A-Z on her own to save expense. Meanwhile, her husband - Nguyen Thuan (now Chairman of Kim Oanh Real Estate Joint Stock Company), opened a shop selling and repairing watches. In the late 2000s, during real estate fever, many customers came to Binh Duong to buy good plots of land. They came to her café to take a break and ask for more local information. They all had her careful guidance/advice. Day by day, she collected more and more real estate information and kept track of this field.

Initially, thanks to mastering every corner in the area, she guided buyers searching for good plots of land. At its peak, she could help dozens of customers finding what they needed per day. After collecting enough budget, she opened a real estate agency and worked as a small dealer. Thanks to her smartness and enthusiasm, the business grew bigger and better. In April 2009, she established Kim Oanh Real Estate Joint Stock Company, officially entered the market.

From an office with some employees, Kim Oanh Real Estate Company has become a good brand in real estate with more than 900 employees. In fact, this is one of the best real estate companies that people would like to work for.

Since its establishment, Kim Oanh Real Estate Joint Stock Company has annually spent billions of VND for CSR activities (Corporate Social Responsibility) as scholarship for poor children, excellent students, charity house to needy ones in provinces as Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Phuoc, Thua Thien-Hue, Kon Tum, Ben Tre, Hau Giang ... Over the past 5 years, the company has contributed more than VND 32 billion to philanthropies and charity organizations. Among those, the most meaningful thing for her was the better life of poor people after getting her support.

She was lucky enough to have good and virtuous friends introducing Hoang Phap pagoda as a spiritual place for her family to refuge during crisis in business and life. Via CDs/VDCs of Dhamma, she and her husband could access to Buddha teachings and understand the impermanent nature of life. From that point of view, they follow Buddha examples sending compassion to everyone, especially needy people. This good deed is the beginning step for the couple to be diligent in practicing and doing charity. In daily life, regardless how busy it is, they always have time for practicing with sitting meditation and chanting morning sutra before starting a working day. These are good examples for Buddhists to learn for the achievement in daily life and practicing.
