On Feb. 26th, 2023 at Hoang Phap pagoda, monks and Oncology Club assisted 50 patients of Cancer Hospital gathering at the pagoda to attend One-Day Practice on occasion of the early year of the Cat.
After having breakfast, Buddhists came to the lecture halls to begin reciting the Buddha's name, walking meditation and chanting precepts.
After the rite, Senior Thich Quang Thien - Head of the Buddhist Legal Department in District 12, Lecturer at Buddhist schools inside and outside the City, Abbot of Tinh Quang Pagoda in HCMC, came to the lecture hall to share a dharma talk to the mass. Practitioners of reciting Buddha's name need to contemplate His merit towards sentient beings, follow the Buddha's example of conduct to study, transform body and mind; those who learn Buddhadharma with full compassion, patience, wisdom, and courage will easily overcome all obstacles, control of our life, as well as actively sow good causes and effects...
After reciting the Buddha name in the afternoon, Buddhists practiced sitting meditation quietly.
Before patients leaving the pagoda, Junior Thich Tam Hue gave gift portions to them with 200 envelopes. Each patient received 400,000VND, 3 bottles of shampoo and shower gel, and vegetarian noodles.
The total amount to 50 patients is 20,000,000 VND supported by Ms. Tuyet Ngoc ‘s Group, Ms Dieu Hoa, My Le, relatives Ms Liem, Ms Ut Sanh and some other Buddhists.
He praised the patients' difficult overcoming spirit, although the body was sick but the mind was not, and returned to the pagoda to cultivate. He advised them to take refuge in Three Jewels, diligently recite Buddha's name, study and practice Buddha's teachings, and will have a peaceful and happy life.
The money is not much, but all patients felt gratitude for givers, because there are still many people helping to share, love and motivate them overcoming the disease.
