Summer Retreat 2018 on the 6th Day: Looking back at Yourself
Update: 04/08/2018
Today August 8th, 2018, (June 22nd, Lunar Calendar) a Dharm sharing was preached by Ven. Thich Nu Lieu Phap, deputy of Buddhist English and the abbot of Vien Khong Monastery, Ba Ria, Vung Tau, on the title of “Human Life from the View of Buddhism”.
By the talk, she mentioned that: suffering, impermanence, non-self are the Buddhist view on the human life’s existence. Showing these things, she hopes the young people will have a positive outlook, arise the right view, wise view and be alert so that they are free from attachments, overcome defilements to get a peaceful life. Today is the 6th day of the course, it means you all spent five days of taking the monastic life already. Their mind at least will impress some Buddhist ideas and recognize where is the real destination for the mind to reach. Learning Buddhism you have a chance to develop our moral values, humanity values to build your life to be better and happier.
In the afternoon, Ven. Abbot Thich Chan Tinh and the monks presented in the lecture hall for giving the Tripple Gems and the Five Precepts to those who want to be the Buddhist after few days joining the retreat course. In the ceremony Ven. Abbot said about the religious source of the Vietnamese, then he reminds what is the young generation’s duty of keeping and developing it. Taking Refuge with the Tripple Gems and making a vow to keep the Five Precepts for whole life, it means to be a Buddhist from now is the wise thought to maintain and develop our traditional spirit. This is a great merit that we had done.
In the evening, the “Ullambana Recitation” competition is continuing. The 16 students of the 8 groups are chosen to join The Final at the main lecture hall.
