Second Day of Summer Retreat: “You Are Talent, So Am I”
Each of us has one life to live, so we should live properly and effectively to deserve the grace being born as human in this world. The way we go will be full of either flowers or obstacles, depending on the view and perspective of ours. The question is what is the necessary backpack for us to confidently go forward on the Path. This is the organizer’s key message for the Student on the second day.
On this day, young participants listen to the Dharma Talk with the topic “Talk With Age 20†from Senior Venerable Thich Buu Chanh, member of Executive Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Secretariat of Vietnam Buddhism Congregation, Abbot of Phuoc Son Zen Monastery in Dong Nai Province.
Before the talk, youths spend a few minutes for meditation to gain more energy, concentrate and enjoy calmness/peace in mind.
Buddha teaches us that it is difficult to be born as humanity, it is more difficult to access to Dharma and it is extremely difficult to follow up and practice Dharma. The youths in the retreat are so lucky having enough merit and compounded conditions to be sound people, know Dharma and can join the course to practice Buddha teachings. This is such a blessed chance that we should take the most of its.
Today, young people spend a lot of time on social networking sites, living in the virtual world that are helpless to our mind cultivation. Many people do not know how to use time properly to build up and stick to the ideal of life. All things in this world are governed by impermanent rule with the cycle Birth-Aging-Sickness-Death that takes place everywhere, every day, every moment in the world. The “I†today is not the “I†of yesterday or 20 years ago. Therefore, we, youngsters, should not rely on what we are possessing today as youth and health and ignore practicing. We should not cling to “my egoâ€, “my things†that can hold us in the closed loop of samsara and sufferings. Youths need to be awakened and choose the right way to live a meaningful and helpful life.
In the Talk Show “You Are Talent, So Am I†in the afternoon, the mass meets with two guests: Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Chairman and CEO of Thai Ha Books Company; and Businesswoman Tue Nghi (Ms. Phan Thanh Bao Ngoc), one of 10 recipients of the Business Star Award, the Asia - Pacific Leaders of Excellence 2013.
The two guests in the program got hardship during their childhood. However, with strong will and fortitude, they have striven through challenges to become successful people in life. After more than an hour of sharing, the two guests convey their knowledge and experience in studying and life to young participants. Youths are encouraged and motivated to soar to bright sky ahead. May their dreams of life come true.
