Ritual of visiting and offering homage to Chief Most Venerable Thich Quang Do’s Body

In the morning of February 25th, 2020 (February 3rd, the Rat year), on the news of Venerable Thich Quang Do’s death, under the guidance of Venerable Abbot Thich Chan Tinh, monks from Hoang Phap pagoda visited and burnt incense to offer the Venerable’s spirit, praying that he will come to the land of Buddha.

Venerable Thich Quang Do is known as the author of many Buddhist translation works. Because of ld age, He followed the impermanent rule and gave up the physical body at 21:30 on February 22nd , 2020 (January 29th, the Rat year), at 93 years old, at Tu Hieu Pagoda, District 8, HCMC.

The Venerable’s birth name is Dang Phuc Tue, born in 1928 in Thai Binh province. He is the translator of many texts, composing, compiling many works such as the Maggallana confessional,  The Escape of Saha Attachment, Ancient Stories of Buddhism, Thought Theme of Buddhist Mahayana, Thought Theme of Buddhist Hynayana, Thought Theme of Buddhist Prabhu, Sino-Vietnamese Buddhist Dictionary ... in particular, the Great Dictionary of Buddha’s light, officially published in the country.

A number of Buddhist works and Buddhist literature translated by the Venerable from Chinese and English have recently been reprinted, providing research references for Buddhist learners.

The entry ceremony in the funeral was held at 14:00 on February 23rd, 2020 (February 1st, the Rat year) and was put still at Tu Hieu Pagoda, 59 Building D, Duong Ba Trac street, Ward 1, District 8, HCMC. The see-off ceremony   took place at 08:00 am on February 25th, 2020 (February 3rd, the Rat year). The ashes, after being cremated, will be spread into the sea according to his will.
