Repentance ceremony on Sep. 14th, Year of the Tiger

On Oct. 09th, 2022 (Sep. 14th, Year of the Tiger), men and women Buddhists inside and outside HCMC returned to Hoang Phap pagoda to attend the periodical penitential ceremony.

Before the rite, Junior Thich Tam Chuc gave a dharma talk named “A real place to take refuge” to the  practitioners.

In the face of rapid changes, people easily fall into a state of confusion and get lost; therefore, when people find themselves a safe and solid refuge, they will have happiness and peace.

With this talk, the monk hopes to convey to the mass each person's true refuge is his or her good karma. By explaining and analyzing a story in the Dhammapada and his life story, he proved what we meet is only our karma. Everyone's karma is created by themselves, no one can do that. If we create many good conditions, we will reap good and happy results; otherwise, we will receive the retribution for this life after that.

In addition, the monk also proposed a method of accumulating and using assets reasonably and effectively in the spirit of Buddha's teachings; just like he mentioned about the path of birth and death, nothing is better than wisdom and merit if one still has to samsara.

After the dharma talk, the mass started the penitential ceremony as usual.
