On the morning of Feb. 02nd, 2023, Most Thich Chan Tinh had a Dharma lecture at Co Tan pagoda in An Phu commune, Kinh Mon Town, Hai Duong province.
Before listening to the dharma talk preached by the Most Ven, Junior Thich Tam Trieu and Buddhists prostrated, and offered their greetings to the Most Master.
The Most Ven taught, the role of the Abbot in the temple is very important, a spiritual support and a guide for Buddhists. That is the one who must have enough talent and solid knowledge of Buddhadharma to guide Buddhists to the right dharma, avoid the wrong path, and become superstitious. The Buddha taught Buddhists to have faith based on right view, right thinking. Buddhists need to keep five basic precepts: no killing, no stealing, no sexual misconduct, no lying, and no drinking. As a disciple of Buddha, if we want our grandparents and parents to be born in a good realm, we must know how to give alms, make offerings, release creatures, and help the poor to dedicate merit; don't be superstitious about burning votive papers that won't benefit self and the deceased.
When people leave this world, they don't bring anything but the karma they have created, which are crimes, or blessings. Human life is only measured in breath, death will come to us at any time:
“If someone is sure that he can live until getting old,
At a young age just slowly practice.
But if he does not know for sure about it,
He must immediately practice not to be slow”
Most Ven Thích Chân Tính
Thus, we should try to cultivate three karma so that there is less greed, less anger, less delusion, and accumulation of merit and blessing, it means, we are creating good karma and being born in a happy realm in the future.
After the lecture, the Most Ven and monks went to Pho Chieu pagoda, Mieu 2 hamlet, Du Hang Kenh ward, Le Chan district, Hai Phong City to visit and wish Tet to Most Thich Thanh Giac.
In the afternoon, Most Thich Chan Tinh had a Dharma lecture at Ha Phu pagoda, Ha Phu village, Hoa Binh commune, Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong.
By the story "The wealth of a miser" in the Samyutta Nikaya, the Most Ven taught:
People are born into this world with empty hands, when they die, they will have only two hands. The created wealth is only temporary material, we should know how to use it properly. People work hard to create wealth and property. In the end, these can ruin in five places: fire, robbery, water's drifting, wife-child destroying, and state confiscation. In the Agama Sutra, a story is recorded in the Buddha's time in the world: there was a bourgeois man who was reborn as a dog because he was nostalgic for his possessions. All material is just borrowed, when people die, they only bring sins or blessings, so don't get attached to temporary things, and then indulge in greed, anger, and delusion, causing sins to lead to suffering. Unrighteous money will not exist; when sowing good deeds, there will be good results, sowing evil deeds, we will reap suffering.
In addition to creating genuine assets to serve the needs of themselves and their families, Buddhists should know how to give alms, make offerings, sow charity, and use money in a righteous way to have a happy life, become a true Buddhist.
After the Dharma talk, the Most and monks came to visit Tuong Quang Pagoda, An Duong town, Hai Phong City.
