Preaching and Doing Charity in Daklak Province
At 5am when everything was in silently coldness, we left\r\nThang Dat Pagoda to come to Ea Sup Ward – a Ward of Daklak Province. It is far\r\nfrom Ban Me Thuot about 85kms in northwest on provincial highway 1. This is a\r\nremote area of the province, with careful population; therefore the local\r\npeople’ life still has been in difficulty. After passing the uneven and stony\r\nroad, we finally arrived at Dieu Phap Praying Hall, located in Ea Le, Ea Sup\r\nWard, Daklak Province. It is known that Jun. Ven. Thich Phap Hue established\r\nthis place in the early 2012. 2012. Although there have still been many\r\ndifficulties, he gradually overcame and offered chances to Buddhists of\r\nvisiting Bodhi-mandala to study Buddha’s teachings. Sympathizing with their\r\nproblems, the Senior Ven. happily visited here to share Buddhist dharma and\r\ntook Triratna refuge for over 300 Buddhists. On the occasion, he explained\r\nclearly the meaning of taking Triratna refuge and benefits of keeping five\r\nprecepts. Concurrently, he also encouraged all the Buddhists to actively carry\r\nout them into life so that they would attain happiness, profits for themselves\r\nand the society. Finally, he taught some necessary solemn state of how to bow,\r\nhold one’s hands, kowtow etc.
\r\n\r\nEnding the lecture and taking Triratna refuge, he offered\r\nDharmaratna gifts including a VCD “Taking Triratna Refugeâ€, a “Summary of\r\nSakyamuni Buddha’s History†‘s book. Besides, he also offered 250 gift sets\r\nincluding rice, noodle, soya sauce, and 50,000 VNÄ for them. Ven. Thich Tam\r\nMinh and Buddhists at Hoang Phap Uc Chau supported this money and gifts.
\r\n\r\nLeaving Ea Sup Ward, we kept on going over 140kms to Krong\r\nPack Ward – whose strong point is that it has large Basalt red soil where is\r\nsuitable for growing coffee. This was the first place imported coffee trees;\r\nthere are a lot of plantations being built by French.
\r\n\r\nAfter over three hours of seating on the car, we arrived\r\nPhuoc Hung Pagoda belonging to Hoa An, Krong pac Ward, Daklak Province.\r\nFormerly, it was a village pagoda which was supervised by a pagoda delegate.\r\nUntil 2007, the delegate decided to invite Nun Thich Nu Hue to be an abbess. In\r\n2010, Nun rebuilt the Pagoda, and after 3 years it has become a solemn,\r\nfantastic pagoda where Buddhists gathered to practice monthly. Although the\r\nroute is distant, and to respond to expectation for learning Buddha’s dharma, the\r\nSenior Ven. happily visited here, gave his regards, and sharing dharma to over\r\n400 people. In the preaching, he emphasized the loss we have to endure and\r\nshould not get in our life. The losses are the ones of relatives, properties,\r\nillnesses. The unexpected losses are of Sila and wisdom. No one can stay away\r\nfrom the must losses, we should not break and lose the Sila and wisdom loss.\r\nBecause when you lose Sila and ordinary wisdom, you will lose Sila in this life\r\nand future generations. All the Phuoc Hung’s Buddhists were very happy after\r\nover one hour of listening to him. Finally, they were offered VCDs such as\r\n“Like an elephant in the Battleâ€.
\r\n\r\nPhuoc Hung pagoda was the last place from his last Buddhist\r\naffair trip to the highland. Leaving a full of sunshine and wind in cold\r\nweather, we come back to prepare for the next Buddhist affairs. Thank you so\r\nmuch to Monks, Nuns, and Buddhists to follow us during this trip.
