One-Day Retreat for Students

On Oct 01, 2017 (Aug 12, lunar calendar), nearly 800 students from universities and colleges in Ho Chi Minh City and provinces came to Hoang Phap Pagoda to attend One Day Retreat for Students.
After breakfast, participants gathered at the main hall for activities and penitent course (re. six senses) under the guidance of clergy men. Then it came the sharing from Dr. Ha Minh Tu, director of educating organization Minh Tu, on the topic "5S".
During the lecture, he pointed out Japanese characteristics in terms of culture, country and people who are human beings with good discipline and courage overcoming kinds of natural disasters. "5S" is Japanese management method including: seiri - selection, seiton - arrangement, seiso - cleanliness, seiketsu - care, shitsuke – readiness. The lecturer analyzed the meaning of 5S in details so that the youths could understand the usefulness of those and properly applied them in work and daily life.
In the afternoon, participants practiced sitting meditation and listened to the Dharma talk from Senior Venerable Thich Nhat Tu, Member of the Executive Board of HCMC Buddhist Association, Deputy Head of the Central Committee of Dharma Preaching Division, Deputy Head of International Buddhism Division, Deputy Director of Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City, with the subject "Happy Youth with Bright Sky Ahead".
During the Dharma talk, he introduced the soft skills taught by Buddha in Sutras and some personal experiences that were helpful for students to apply and get achievement in career path including:
- Nurturing four noble qualities.
- Think big, work hard with few words.
- Stay away from three negative attitudes.
- Study Dharma and practice meditation.
Via the lecturing, he supplied students with positive thoughts, knowledge and practical application of those to daily life to have happiness and bright future.
