Buddhist News of Ven. Thich Chan Tinh
One-Day Retreat at Vien Thong Ashram, Oregon – United States
Update: 04/10/2016
On Oct 3, 2016, the Venerable Thich Chan Tinh conducted the One-Day Retreat at Vien Thong Chanting Hall, Oregon, United States.
In the morning, he guided the etiquette for Buddhist and reviewed Buddhism fundamentals as the meaning of taking Refuge in Triratna, Five Precepts; as well as shared his experience in practicing Buddha’s teachings to Buddhist devotees.
In the afternoon session, the Venerable Thich Chan Tinh briefed about the Buddhism activities of Hoang Phap pagoda in Viet Nam and praised the missionary spirit of lay Buddhists at Vien Thong Ashram. Regardless whatever kind of obstacles they met, everyone has tried the best to build up the ashram as a place for everyone to practice together. Previously, Buddhists had gathered at private residences for practice and worship activities until the ashram grew bigger. A Protestant church was bought and renovated to serve as a Buddhism worship place. Such efforts deserve praises and represent the strong will of practicing from local Buddhists.
The Ven stressed that Dharma preaching is the lofty task that we, Buddhists, should try our best to together turn the Dharma wheel, make the world peaceful and sentient beings happy.
Ending the Retreat, the Venerable sent his blessings to everyone. May the grace from Triratna shine onto the ashram so that they can grow further to serve sentient beings.
