One-Day Practice
Update: 05/01/2025
Good men and believing women everywhere gathered at Hoang Phap pagoda to attend One-day Practice on Jan. 05th, 2025.
After having breakfast, all Buddhists came to the lecture halls to begin reciting the Buddha name, walking meditation and chanting precepts.
After the ritual, all practitioners listened to a Dharma talk named The Buddha recitation preached by Most Thich Tam Duc, Standing Deputy Director of Vietnam Buddhist Study Institute; Deputy Director of HCMC Vietnam Buddhist University, Head of the Department of Buddhist English, Lecturer of HCMC 's Vietnam Buddhist University.
Being not only an ordinary body's embodiment, the Buddha Himself is a symbol of immortal wisdom. Recitation is remembrance, concentration, so, reciting the Buddha's name is not only praising His name but also focusing by wisdom, seeing and knowing the truth about the dharmas. When the dharmas occur, we need to face directly, clearly understand their nature: impermanence, suffering and non-self, or fame, wealth, beauty, love... nothing is beyond these three things. Therefore, we do not indulge in frivolous things, and are not driven by afflictions to suffering. As reciting the Buddha names, practitioners should not expect to rely on the Buddha salvation but should remember His merits, wisdom and blessings, follow His example to practice, create joy and enlightenment for ourselves and everyone.
The Most has guided the mass to understand more about the practice of reciting the Buddha's name, helping them to gain more knowledge and be more diligent in their journey of studying the Buddha's teachings.
All participants gathered at the lecture hall to attend the Dharma conversation on the topic named Good Path in the afternoon.
The Hoang Phap pagoda monks, Junior Thich Tam Duoc witnessed the talk and two guests were Buddhists Lien Loan and Lien An.
The familiar Buddhist verse often heard is “It is difficult to be born and meet the Buddha, it is even more difficult to hear the Tathagata's teachings…” Although living in the digital age, finding information is easy but in reality, not everyone has the opportunity to know the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha.
With the will to propagate the Dharma for the benefit of living beings and the vow of compassion, generations of monks and nuns do not fear difficulties, dedicate themselves and use countless means to spread the teachings in life. To continue that mission, Junior Thich Tam Duoc has opened the Applied Dharma Propagating class in 2021. The Class has helped many Buddhists approach Buddhism, apply Buddha's teachings in life, Buddhist Lien Loan and Buddhist Lien An are excellent students in the Class. Not only diligently studying the teachings and achieving high results in competitions for lay people, but also applying the teachings from the Masters has helped two Buddhists transform their body and mind, build a peaceful and happy life, and nurture good roots as a foundation for enlightenment and liberation in the future.
Junior Thich Tam Truong praised and presented Dharma gifts to two Buddhists at the end of Dharma conversation.
The practice day ended with the joy of the mass. Before leaving the temple, Buddhists received book gifts.
