Update: 19/07/2016
In the last night of 2016 Summer retreat "Return the peaceful place" in Hoa Phuc Pagoda, Hoa Thach commune, Quoc Oai district, Hanoi City. The participants attended the "Mature Ceremony", a special program designed for more than 150 participants in the age of 18.

More than 900 youths “cried like a rainstorm” in Mature Ceremony at Hoa Phuc pagoda

This ceremony is the congratulations, encouragement from Hoa Phuc Pagoda to the candidates who have reached adulthood, and marked an important milestone of their lives. Via this event, the organizer would like the youths rechecking themselves with their ideal, responsibility to family and society. This is also an opportunity for parents opening their hearts to share, motivate, encourage, and guide children the right behaviors as the baggage so that the youths can be self-confident and ready for the coming new page of life.

The ceremony took place in the presence of the Venerable Thich Giac Nguyen; Venerable Thich Nguyen Phap - members of Buddhist Church in Thua Thien Hue province; Venerable Thich Tam Hoa - Hoa Phuc Temple abbot, retreat chief oganizer; together with clergy from Pagodas as Hoang Phap, Hue Quang, Tuyen Lam in HCMC and Tien Giang province.

Besides, there are also the presence of nearly 60 representatives of parents and all of the retreat participants.

At the Maturity Ceremony, the candidates paid their homage to the “Quarter-Key Grace” (Buddha, Teacher, Parent, and the Mass), sincerely kneeling in front of Trisatna for their lives’ vow in the guidance of Ven. Thich Tam Hoa.

More than 900 candidates, parents and Buddhists “cried as rainstorm” when listening to Venerable Thich Giac Nguyen’s teachings of the parents’ hardship raising children from birth to adult.

To express homage to Buddhas in the ten directions and the present monks, representatives of participants have respectfully stepped onto the stage to offer Trisatna and Monks, the Teacher, cups of tea.

Next, youths offered cups of tea as the tribute to parents. This is really a meaningful and unforgettable ritual for many young people. The first time in life, they were kneeling down to express parents their thanks, and apologies which are too simple for youths to have enough courage/memory to speak out in daily life.

There are lots of tear drops, in which some represent for the sorriness from youths to parents, others imply the parents’ happiness seeing their children’s maturity and gratitude. Participants have acknowledged parents’ love after 5 days of the Retreat. It is such a big step of growing.

Before ending the program, the organizers gave dhamma gifts to the parents in the ceremony. Particularly, each participant of mature ceremony got the calligraphy of “patient" hand- written by Venerable Thich Tam Hoa. He wished that the gift would go along with the youths and remind them to become helpful and ethical citizens, complying with Vietnam long term tradition.
