The five basic man’s sufferings are greediness, anger, delusion, arrogance and suspicion. These lead to man’s anxiety. Therefore, how can we apply Buddhist Dharma to dissolve those spiritual sufferings?

Only sentimental human beings have abundant life?

\r\n\r\n

From the Buddhist Dharma point of view, human beings are\r\nsentimental ones - ‘sentimental’ naturally means having affection. The majority\r\nof us understand this, but we cannot control our feelings. Accordingly, we are\r\ncontrolled by our feelings leading to sufferings, even temporarily\r\nspiritually excited leading to making mistakes, which is too late when feeling\r\nremorse.

Talking about emotions, there are various types which can be\r\nbrought together into these three large categories:

\r\n\r\n

1. Emotions and ideas:

\r\n\r\n

For example, the emotions and ideas of philosophers, of\r\npoliticians, of artists and of clergymen. These emotions and ideas belong to\r\ntheir physical properties and are, therefore, useful to everybody, for the\r\nworld and for themselves. Without emotions and ideas, a person will be of\r\nhumble origin like an animal.

2. Emotion:

\r\n\r\n

Emotion is intended for relatives or persons and things\r\nrelated to oneself - due to liking or disliking, there is emotional phenomenon.\r\nAlthough emotions are not valued higher than ideas, a person without emotions\r\nis considered a kind of vegetation or mineral. Only when emotion rises from\r\nselfishness, the person involved is controlled by such things as, rejoice,\r\nanger, cheerfulness and sadness, which can be either good or wicked - there is\r\ncompletely no peace and contentment. But when there is tranquility and peace in\r\npsychology -  there is stability.

3. Spirit.

\r\n\r\n

 Spirit comes from sentiment. When spirit cannot be\r\nexpressed fully, there is sorrow and unsafe situation. Consequently, there is\r\nspiritual fretfulness or uneasiness. Spirit in such a case is like big ocean\r\nwaves in stormy rains - it no longer has any willingness, and rules. Moreover,\r\ninsecureness is both very advantageous and disadvantageous, and some people are\r\nmuch insecure while others are less insecure.

\r\n\r\n

When the spirit is insecure, it resembles a scorching flame\r\nof ignorance - the involved person sometimes cries loudly and the other time\r\nlaughs boisterously, even strikes others and the tendance of violence\r\nis manifested. Accordingly, a person who works with an insecure spirit\r\nis worse than the one with an individual emotion which is also fearful. As\r\nsuch, the person concerned not only creates inconveniences to him but also\r\nmakes others keep themselves away from him.  Therefore, when we confront\r\ndifficulties we should not let insecureness happen arbitrarily.  But.\r\nThere are also people who say that if there are no changes in our life then it\r\nbecomes tasteless - there must be ups and downs. There should be joy and\r\nsadness in man’s life so that it may be enriched and, therefore, fretfulness is\r\nnot at all a bad thing.”

Reality tells us that we should adjust ourselves to our own\r\nemotions. Don’t forget that each time we have spiritual insecureness, countless\r\ncells in our body die. As a result, our body is not only healthy but our\r\npsychology also has no longer peace and contentment. If human beings often live\r\nin the status of being pleased, angry, happy and sad, then they cannot live\r\nlonger, which is a useless life then. Only when human beings can make\r\nthemselves be in a joyful and peaceful environment, can their spirit be stable\r\nand their psychology comfortable.

\r\n\r\n

If we want to avoid spiritual insecureness, we should first\r\nunderstand thoroughly what serious consequences cause to us and others and only\r\nwhen we have mastered it can we be able to control our own insecureness.\r\nSpiritual insecureness causes bad things continually. It is like\r\nthe person who has contracted high blood pressure - it can endanger his\r\nlife - he can first get a stroke and next is his limbs paralysed, which may\r\nlead to his death. That’s why preventing from contracting fretfulness\r\nis a very important thing.

\r\n\r\n

The method that can prevent insecureness is that before this\r\nstatus happens we should use a conception known as reconcilement  - \r\nthat is to say to oneself that “there must be the spirit of security” for\r\nthe fact that when unlucky things happen, not only ourselves but also others\r\nget involved in misfortune.

\r\n\r\n

In addition to making use of conception, we should also try\r\nour best to improve ourselves, such as practicing sitting meditation  or\r\nusually silently reciting Amitabha Buddha’s and Avalokitesvara’s names \r\n-  these will be much helpful to us. Before our spirit has fretfulness,\r\nreciting Buddha and Avalokitesvara’s names, our spirit can be transformed,\r\nleading our spirit to tranquility. But, when we apply conception or method, we\r\nshould master the purpose of either of these; that is, we should not use any of\r\nour force ourselves; instead, we should reconcilate them wisely. We can only\r\nobserve our spiritual insecureness but not think of it then it can be dissolved\r\nsimply.
