Ho Phap’s Group to join - The Buddhist Singing Contest

In response to the celebration of the United Nations day of Vesak – BE.2558 hosted by Viet Nam, on the afternoon of Saturday, 4th April 2014 (lunar 6th March, the Horse Year), the young members of Hoang Phap pagodas Ho Phap (Dharma protectors) group gathered in Vinh Phuoc pagoda, district 12 to attend The Singing Contest whose theme is “ Happy Buddhas Birthday ” organized by The Department of Culture of Vietnam Buddhist association of Ho Chi Minh City .

This is the first night of preliminary  round of the\r\ncompetition, the venues of which are at different\r\nplaces in the city. Vinh Phuoc pagoda is  venue 4 including 6 districts :\r\nDistrict 12, Tan Phu district, Tan Binh district, Cu Chi district, Hoc Mon\r\ndistrict and Binh Chanh district. The registration for this contest shows that\r\nthere are nearly 50 items in venue 4. After scoring, the judges will select 15\r\nitems for the further city-level competition.

This Buddhist Singing Contest is organized on a very large\r\nscale, which has attracted participation of many pagodas and Buddhist families\r\n across the city. This is one of the typical Buddhist cultural programs\r\n in a variety of Buddhist affairs of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of\r\nHo Chi Minh City performed to celebrate Vesak  2014 – BE.2558.

In the competition, the members of Ho Phap’s group performed\r\ntwo items: “An Udumbara flower” dance and a duet song “Shining  udumbara\r\nflowers” (written by Hang Vang)
