Update: 22/02/2017
EQ (Emotional Quotient) becomes familiar to modern man. As a monk, I do not know what EQ is, but only apply Dharma to make inner balance to my body.

Good Way Adjudging EQ Workplace

A good emotional state is essentially a compassionate heart, which expresses sympathy, cares, hopes, and happiness. All of this is made through exercise adjustment in order to avoid misconceptions.

If one cannot adjust their emotional state, they only feel satisfied for letting their ordinary mood swing or even break out heedlessness. Those who do not understand their characteristics cannot manage to control their emotions that are usually upset, frustrated, pessimistic, envious, and doubtful of life. Such psychological phenomena would drag their EQ down.

Buddhism states human psychology is essentially the similar, also called "the mind" or "the mental state". The wise knows how to control and make the best use of their feelings, whereas the fool does not.

At work, colleagues, bosses, customers might put one into unpleasant situations that lead to negative emotional reactions such as resistance; resistance causes controversy; and the controversy can result into fights and wars. Wars are the root of emotional problems. Buddhism shows that everyone has bad feelings called 'heart afflictions'. These emotional disturbances need proper training methods based on clear conceptions so as to bring one inner stabilization, peace of mind, and the decrease of negativity.

The point is how one should apply the right concept into training their heart. First, they need to admit the differences in personality types that might cause inevitable conflicts in social interactions. Each type of personality has different perspectives, positions, reasoning and needs. If they cannot understand themselves, it is impossible for them to understand and accept others' points of view, and let alone to see through the cause of a conflict. People often see an event with personal assumption and tend to make conclusions based on their stand, which is rather subjective.

Realizing this, one can change their conception to have peace of mind. The problem is how to have inner peace when their soul is chaotic. In this case, it is necessary to use methods of mind, for instance, reciting the name of Amitabha. This is a simple, easy to do, but the most effective method. The concept states people should not always think that their beloved ones must be controlled; the opponent is considered rivals. Everyone needs to change the way of thinking to, put their mind into reciting the name of the Buddha instead of focusing on the changeable surroundings. Only through such regular practice do they obtain emotional stability.

As anger does not do any good for the body or a conflict, one should try to use a tranquil soul to resolve problems. First, they should pay attention to breathe balance, which can come when their airflow gets stable. It is emotional balance, not anger, which brings person wisdom to solve the problem. Thus, a heart of compassion, sympathy, cares, hopes and working passion that Buddhism refers to could be understood as a high EQ that can benefit everyone in work and life.
