Fairy Tale in Common Life ( part 1)

Ha took slow careful steps on her way to the pagoda. Today\r\nwas just a normal day so the pagoda was quite deserted. Before, Ha only came\r\nhere during ceremonies, which was so bustling that it was hard to find the\r\npeaceful atmosphere as today. There were only a few people on the campus. Some\r\nwere kneeling in front of Bodhisattva statue on the right of the main hall,\r\nmurmuring words of prayers, or maybe they were lamenting about their pain and\r\nmisery to Bodhisattva. In a moment, Ha would also kneel down at the feet of\r\nBodhisattva to confide in her everything. That was probably going to be the\r\nlast time Ha confided in Bodhisattva, the last time Ha came to this familiar\r\npagoda, the only place Ha could find happiness besides her own home. Thinking\r\nabout that made Ha’s eyes feel like burning. Ha sat down at a bench and\r\nreminisced about the events of the past.

Ha’s childhood passed peacefully in the fat land of the West\r\nfull of lush fields throughout the year:

\r\n\r\n
“The West is with white rice and clear water
\r\n\r\n
Anyone who comes will not content to leave.”
\r\n\r\n

That land gave birth to plenty of beautiful, gentle girls\r\nand Ha was one of them. Back in high school, Ha was known as the beauty queen\r\nof her school and mesmerized countless of bright-eyed boys. It was impossible\r\nto count all the love letters Ha had received although Ha never really cared\r\nbecause she was busy focusing on studying. Aside from her beauty, Ha was famous\r\nand loved by her teachers because of her good academic results. Twelve years as\r\na class monitor, she never fell below the 5th place in class’ ranking. She\r\nwas blessed with everything people wanted: beauty and intelligence. That is why\r\ndespite being a single mother, Ha’s mother never once complained about her\r\nhardship of bringing up a child on her own. Ha’s father had died when she was\r\nvery young so all her love was dedicated to her mother. With her mother’s\r\nteaching and caring, Ha never showed signs of arrogance, was just always\r\ncheerful and friendly.

The happiest day in their lives was when Ha received the\r\nacceptance letter into University of Medicine and Pharmacy, which meant Ha had\r\ncompleted the first step in achieving her dream. In the future she would soar\r\nhigh and far in the sky of knowledge, help patients escape  from fear\r\nand misery. Thinking about that made Ha beyond happy. She smilingly waved good\r\nbye to her mother when picking up the luggage on the way to leave her hometown.

In the middle of the hustle bustle of the city, Ha felt so\r\nsmall and lonely. The cramped apartment, the noisy streets, the heat, the\r\nincreasingly difficult higher education made her collapse at the heart of the\r\ncity. In her free time, Ha didn’t know what to do to kill of the boredom. All\r\nher friends were in a relationship so they all spent their free time with their\r\npartners and had no time for Ha. Since coming to the city, Ha had been\r\nexpressed a wish  by quite a few people but none of them had enough\r\nof what it took to move her heart.

\r\n\r\n

Until one day, Ha met Minh in an inter-department social\r\ngathering. He looked completely normal and did not seem outstanding, but Ha\r\nstill found something extraordinary in his eyes. Those clear, bright eyes\r\ncontained a kind of inexplicable sadness. Those eyes touched Ha’s heart at\r\nfirst sight. They started going steady and became a couple. During the\r\nrelationship, Ha found many special, golden characteristics in this simple,\r\nquiet yet loving guy. Minh was an orphan. Both his parents passed away in a car\r\naccident when he was in eighth grade, leaving him with a small house with the\r\nroof made of leaves in a small garden. Ever since, Minh took care of himself\r\nsince his relatives could not help him much. There were times when he was\r\nstarved for days because he ran out of money. Working and going to school at\r\nthe same time still never made Minh neglect school, he was even on top of\r\nclass. After high school, Minh had to sell the piece of land left by his\r\nparents to afford university fee in the city. Ha appreciated Minh’s heart and\r\nperseverance. Ha also felt greatly sympathetic with Minh since they both grew\r\nup without a father, yet Ha was luckier since she still had her mother.

\r\n\r\n

After being in love for a year, Ha thought her life could\r\nnever be without Minh and so could Minh. They were going to belong to each\r\nother sooner or later. They reached the decision of moving in together, helping\r\neach other overcoming the difficult student life. It is said that letting the\r\nfire be near the straw will star out soon.  Living together, their\r\nyoung and impulsive age cannot control their ebullient feelings. So Ha gave all\r\nshe had to Minh. She didn’t think her life would take another turn from that\r\nmoment on…
