Examining Patients, Offering Medicine and Releasing Living Creatures in Dong Thap

On occasion of Vu Lan Festival, monks and Buddhists of Hoang Phap Pagoda collaborated with doctors from Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho City to organize a charity trip, which included free examining patients, free offering medicine and releasing living creatures in Dong Thap Province.

By instruction of Abbot Thich Chan Tinh, was in the morning\r\nof July 31st (on July 05th, Horse Year), Ven. Thich Tam Hue and\r\nBuddhists accompanied with 40 doctors from Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho City to\r\nhave a charity trip. Delegation offered a free health care for inhabitants in\r\ntwo rural areas, one located in Hoa Thanh Ward- Lai Vung District and another\r\nin Ngoc Quang Monastery located in Sa Dec Town. In this charity trip, more than\r\n850 packages of medicine and 800 presents (which included rice and instant\r\nnoodles) were donated to the poor here. The total budget for this charity trip\r\ncollected by all local Buddhists and Hoang Phap Pagoda was 124 million dongs.\r\nBesides, it was important to thank all the doctors who were voluntary to offer\r\nfree health care to poor people here despite the distance from city to rural\r\ncountryside. This beautiful behavior eased a part of pain suffered from this\r\nlife.

In the afternoon, the charity trip released 3 tons of fish\r\nin Tien River, the quantity of which bought by the organization at Sa Dec\r\nMarket on the total expense was 75 million, 5 hundred thousand dongs. The\r\nrelease was done successfully in their delightfulness. It was believed that the\r\nreleasing activity was a practical and typical action for Ullumbana ceremony,\r\nrepresenting the filial piety of Buddhists.
