Dharma Talk at Phuoc Quang Monastery– Ho Chi Minh City
Update: 09/06/2014
In response to the invitation of Nun Abbess Thich Nu Nhu Thuy, Senior Ven. Thich Chan Tinh came to Phuoc Quang Monastery (51A, 265 Street, Hiep Phu ward, 9 District, Ho Chi Minh City) to have a Dharma talk to Buddhists in the morning of June 8th, 20014 (Lunar May 11th, Hours year)
\r\n\r\n
“On illusion, the Buddha supports; on enlightenment, self\r\nprotectionâ€. This is the theme, which the Senior preached to Buddhists.
\r\n\r\n
In first period, Buddhists should take Triratna refuge to\r\nlearn the Buddha teachings and to be instructed by Monks, Nuns.
\r\n\r\n
Relying on the Buddha’s image is to recognize the Buddha in\r\nmind. When clearly understanding that people gets the nature of the Buddha, get\r\nability to become the Buddha, etc., any statements are said to be of neither\r\nthe Amitabha Buddha nor the Pure Land, etc., which ones cannot reduce the\r\nBuddhist’ belief, too.
\r\n\r\n
It is a cultivator to be the Buddha in the future that no Buddha\r\ncan help them to become the Buddha, the Amitabha Buddha cannot, either the Pure\r\nLand is a fine sphere that helps our progress cultivation, whether or not the\r\nexistence of Amitabha Buddha and the Pure Land will not affect in our practice\r\nto become a Buddha.
\r\n\r\n
For instance, as a child, we must depend on our\r\nparents of being sucked, carried, and brought up until our growing up. Then, we\r\nare self-control of eating, traveling, taking care, etc., without supporting\r\nfrom our parents.
\r\n\r\n
Next, going to school on the teachers’ instruction, we are\r\nin teacher-student relationship. After achievement, we will become a teacher as\r\nwell.
\r\n\r\n
The dharma learners are the same. “On illusion, the Buddha\r\nsupports; on enlightenment, self protectsâ€. The Buddha is the one who directs\r\nthe way; success or not depends on the followers. No one can grant us to become\r\na Buddha.
\r\n\r\n
At the end of the preaching, each person was offered a VCD\r\nof “Winds shaking small bamboosâ€.
