Ceremony of Taking Refuge at Cu Linh Pagoda

In response to the invitation of Abbot Thich Tue Hai, Senior Ven. Thich Chan Tinh came to Cu Linh pagoda, Thanh Lieu Hamlet, Tan Hung Commune, Hai Duong City to take refuge for about 700 youngsters in the 4th Summer Retreat, which was held in the morning of June 6th 2014 (Lunar May 9th, Horse year).

After the ritual ceremony of incensing praise, the\r\nrepresentative offered to all the honored ones the required praise of\r\nrefuge taking. By the heart for Buddhism and the trust from all youngsters, the\r\nSen. Ven. explained about three sermons of refuge taking  such as in the\r\nBuddha, in the Dharma, and in the Sangha. This is the basic stage to be a real\r\nBuddhist. Then, all the youngsters kneeled solemnly, and serenely held their\r\nhands together before the Buddha with sincere promise to do penance and\r\nreceived three Dharma’s from the honored ones.

After that, under the instruction of the Senior Ven, Junior\r\nVen. Thich Dao Quang shared with the youngsters about five precepts – five\r\nbasic moral principles of a Buddhist.

\r\n\r\n

 In the hot weather of North, with the refuge\r\naspiration, all the youngsters put their hands together to vow keeping five\r\nprecepts, not only becoming a  true Buddhist but also a good citizen.

\r\n\r\n

Finally, The Sen. Venerable praised and encouraged them to\r\npractice diligently so that they would have many good results in this summer\r\nretreat.

The ceremony was ended in happiness from whole  Bodhi\r\nmandala.
