Celebrating The Hang Thuan

On November 27th, 2014 (Lunar October 6th, Horse Year) Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh and all Buddhists organized the Hang Thuan celebration for a couple: Tinh Truong groom and Lien Nhung bride.

\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Realizing the significance of wedding ceremony at the pagoda\r\nis to create conditions for the bride, groom to take Triratna refuge as well as\r\nthe blessing of the Venerable. From the past to now, more or less, many people\r\nthink that Buddhism is the religion of the old and the death. Wherever there\r\nare dead people, there will have monks; people living inside are bored of life\r\nand lost love. This misunderstanding inadvertently affects Buddhism negatively\r\non its genuine value.

The formation and development of Buddhism has confirmed the\r\nBuddha’s teachings during His life. All has orientated human towards high\r\nvalue, a good citizen in society. Since Buddhism was introduced in Vietnam, it\r\nalways has its own noble mission. Buddhism accompanies with the people and\r\nhappy family is one example of the practical benefits that Buddhism has brought\r\nto. Transforming suffering, resolving impasses and misunderstanding help\r\nfamilies with a beautiful life, love; especially the Buddhists must live on the\r\nBuddha’s teachings.

In the great spirit, under the witness of the Buddha, the\r\ncelebration was very dignified and solemn. After the Buddha significantly\r\ndemonstrated the meaning of the ring. Couple proclaimed their vows and the\r\ncouple confirmed their faithful love to each other forever.

Afterward, Senior Venerable Thich Chan Tinh had some talk to\r\nthe young couple on this great day. From the meaning of the Hang Thuan, he\r\nexplained the meaning of two words Hang Thuan. Hang is permanence. Thuan is\r\npeaceful harmony which is the root of joy and happiness. A peaceful family is\r\nalways happy family. At the same time, the Venerable explained the bride, groom\r\nas well as all of attendees to know the way to get happiness is that they\r\nshould live in six harmonies as the Buddha’s teachings:

Six items are a premise, a step that we have the most solid\r\nones on the road to build a happy family, a duty of each member in family. Also\r\nin this ceremony, the issues of pregnant teaching, children teaching as adults\r\nwere mentioned for them. Parents always expect for their children to be gentle,\r\nintelligent, and studious. First of all, parents must know how to live a clean\r\nlife, a severity practice of five basic principles that the Buddha taught.

Finally, the Senior Venerable wishes the bride, the groom\r\nand the entire congregation a joyful, happy life in the teachings of the\r\nTathagata.
