Update: 02/12/2019
On Dec. 1st, 2019 (Nov. 6th, LC), devout Buddhists from inside and outside HCMC came to Hoang Phap to join the One-day practice. This time, we continue the 68th Dharma Light Program.
Accepted the invitation of the organization, Ven. Thich Tam Sy, one of Hoang Phap monk, presented at the main lecture hall for giving answers to all the Buddhists.
Question 1:
Dear Venerable,
I am a Buddhist, once I had university friends get together, one of them asked: “As I know, your monk is doing nothing but asking for food, doing sutta chanting, kind of living on society. Some of them also bargain when performing funeral rite, all give an ugly look, how do you think?” An uncomfortable feeling comes to me but I don’t know how to explain because I am just a new Buddhist. By this occasion I hope you give a clear explanation about your job to remove such kind of thinking in people's minds, and to help them have an optimize seeing and understanding about Buddhism as well. I’m willing to hear the explanation.
Question 2:
Dear Venerable,
I and some of my friends together go to the temple doing chanting and we discuss good karma and merit. Some said when we do good things and merit then transfer to our passed away ancestors and other beings they all receive, some opposed that only preta can receive, some said only our ancestors can get what we do for them. I am confused about these things. I hope you with your compassion make clear for me, who can receive our good merit transferring?
