Ngo Chan Tu Education Talent Monk Fund

In the joyful approval of Junior Thich Tam Truong, Abbot of Hoang Phap pagoda, Junior Thich Tam Hue and monks and Buddhists had an offering trip to Can Tho City on Oct.15th, 2022 (Sep. 20th, LC) to visit and donate to the Khmer Buddhist Academy, the Buddhist College of Can Tho city and Buddhist Intermediate School (BIS) of the City with an amount of 50,000,000 (fifty million dong) per school, deducted from Ngo Chan Tu Education Talent Monk Fund to contribute to preserving and transmitting Buddha's teachings to sentient beings.

This fund was founded by Most Thich Chan Tinh at Hoang Phap Pagoda with the purpose of providing scholarships, encouraging monks and nuns to study at Buddhist educational institutions. This is a good opportunity for benefactors to join hands with the pagoda and the Sangha who take care of the living of young monks and nuns.

At the Khmer Theravada Buddhist Academy (O Mon, Can Tho), the delegation paid homage to Three Jewels, wished the Venerable's longevity, and made offerings to the Three Jewels. Welcoming the delegation were Most Thich Dao Nhu, Vice Chairman of the Executive Council of the Khmer Theravada Buddhist Academy and members of the Academy. Most Ven introduced the first Khmer Theravada School of Buddhism in Vietnam. The Academy established up to now has trained 5 courses, with more than 200 monks graduating with a bachelor's degree in Buddhism, contributing to improving the level of monks in Khmer temples in the Southwest region.

On the same day, the delegation went to Can Tho College of Buddhism at Long Quang Pagoda (Can Tho). The pagoda was founded by Zen Master Thien Quyen (Linn-Chih lineage) in the Minh Mang dynasty (1824) with the role of promoting and spreading Buddhism. The previous and current Abbots all focus on restoring and building the temple to become a typical monastery of Can Tho Buddhism with many contributions to the Dharma and the nation. In 2018, Senior Thich Binh Tam was appointed as Rector of Can Tho College of Buddhist Studies.

Welcoming the delegation were Junior Thich Thien Huu, Vice Principal of College of Buddhist Studies, Member of Director Board (DB) of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), Junior Thich Thien Hau, Head of Can Tho City Buddhist Director Office; monks from the Lecturer Training Office, and 80 monks and nuns studying at the school. On behalf of the school's DB, the venerables gladly received the donation from the "Ngo Chan Tu" fund. The Venerable sent their best regards to the health of Most Master, the Abbot and monks of Hoang Phap Pagoda. At the same time, they also sent a letter of deep gratitude to the annual scholarship fund for taking care of the living of monks and nuns at the school, helping conditions for monks and nuns to feel more secure in their studies, as a foundation for the practice in future.

Accordingly, the delegation came to Can Tho BIS at Phuoc Long Pagoda (Cai Rang, Can Tho), managed by Nun Thich Nu Nhu Tam. The Monks in the DB are determined to train standard monks, and achieve talent practitioners for the Sangha, always uphold the spirit: "Study Buddha for Enlightenment - Cultivate Buddha for Deliverance", aim at liberating and benefiting sentient beings.

The delegation prostrated respect, made an offering to Three Jewels, and wished longevity to the nuns. On behalf of the school's Directors Board, the nun gladly accepted the donation from the "Ngo Chan Tu" Fund, sending her deep gratitude to the monks.

The trip is complete in the relationship of warm co-religion.
