This branch of Hoang Phap Pagoda in Yen Bai is called Dai Co Viet temple, and is managed by Junior Thich Tam The. This place will be a spiritual house, helping conditions for Buddhists to study, and practice needs. In order to establish a temple in remote areas, we vow to build a statue of Buddha Shakyamuni. The ancients taught:

"Building temples, sculpting statues, casting bells,

To those three virtue, everyone should joyfully do"

It is because the merits of making Buddha statues are so great and inconceivable that doers being born anywhere often see the Buddha, hear Dharma, have great blessings and wisdom, attain the six powers, and soon attain Buddhahood.

Junior Thich Tam Hue, Head of the Charity Department of Hoang Phap Pagoda has been campaigning for Buddhists to help branches for many years. In order to show gratitude to the Buddhas, Founder and Master of the pagoda, on the occasion of this year's rain Retreat, he mobilized donors to sculpt a statue of Buddha Shakyamuni to honor at the main hall of Dai Co Viet Pagoda, Yen Bai.

Awareness of this merit, a Buddhist bought 11m3 of Doussie wood, accompanied by Sculptor Le Van Bao in HCMC to carve the Buddha statue. The total budget is 600 million VND. The Buddha statue was donated completely by a Buddhist. It is known before that, Sculptor Le Van Bao also made a statue offering to Bon Pagoda, Nghe An and Suoi Phap Pagoda, Tay Ninh.

The ceremony began with the rite of lighting incense to the Buddha, chanted sutra and recited the Buddha’s name.

This Buddha statue has 3,9 high meters, 3,8 tons, the material of Doussie wood is seated on a lotus in a majestic and steady meditation posture. The statue is placed in the main hall, as a place of worship, prayer and study for Buddhists and people in the region.  The estimated time of completion will be in May 2023 to welcome the Vesak Great Ceremony.

At the finishing of the rite, Junior Thich Tam Hue expressed his gratitude to monks and Buddhists for chanting, reciting Buddha's name, praying for the statue to be completed soon.
