Repentant Ceremony at Minh Chat ashram in Can Tho

On Sep. 15th, 2020 (July 28th, Year of Mouse), Junior Ven. Thich Tam Hue and devout Buddhists of Hoang Phap Pagoda returned to Minh Chat retreat in Can Tho to attend the periodic penance rite.

The group had a trip liberating creatures in the morning at Cai Rang floating market, Can Tho.

Next, the mass listened to a Dharma talk by Junior Thich Tam Hue, Head of the Charity Board of Hoang Phap Pagoda with the topic: Shame for self and shame for others.

There are two kinds of shameful mind: the one with itself and the another with others. In fact, there are faults only the mistaker knows, that one will shame with itself, but there are sins that everyone knows, that one will shame on everyone. While the bad thing is exposed, everyone feels ashamed, but the one is fallen into this situation without having emotions, there is no way to help that person.

People know to self shame themselves, their conscience is always reminded. People whose mind is ashamed of others, they will be afraid of sins. The shameful mind helps us to stop before the ignorance of the mind and the desires of lust. Thanks to that, the world is protected, the ethic is maintained, everyone lives worthy of being a human. The Buddha's disciples must have a shameful mind to save himself and save his life.

After preaching, the mass chanted repentant Sutra,  walked in meditation and recited Buddha's name as usual.

This occasion, Junior Ven. Thich Tam Hue gave dharma gifts to Buddhists, including some books:  Lessons of cause and effect, The Story of the Stork and other gifts.

The repentant day ended in the joys of the participants.
