One Day Retreat in Can Tho

Junior Thich Tam Hue, Monks and devout Buddhists returned to Minh Chat retreat in Can Tho to attend for the 3rd One Day Retreat on June 12th, 2022 (May 14th, LC).

After having breakfast, the monks guided prostration rituals, greeting, raising the bowl to offer rice, walking to recite the Buddha's name, and chant precepts.

Who have not led the holy life

nor riches won while young,

they linger on as aged cranes

around a fished-out pond.

 156.

 Who have not led the holy life

nor riches won while young,

they languish on, worn-out bows,

sighing for the past.

By the story of Dhammapada No. 155-156, the story of the bankruptcy of the great rich man, the monk emphasized: When a strong young man did not earn a fortune, nor did he care about spiritual practice, when he was old, he was no different from an old stork in the pond, can not find bait, must wither and die. When he was a strong young man, he did not earn any fortune, nor did he care about spiritual practice, so when he was old, he lay down, his figure was like a broken bow, and he kept lamenting about the past. So, we should save merit for our children, because of having merit, we can eat forever.

After eating breakfast at 11:00, the monks and the Buddhists recited Buddha's name and walked in meditation.

In the afternoon, monks and Buddhists walked in recitation of the Buddha name and meditated in silence, then offered food to spirits.

 At the end of the practice day, on this occasion, monks gave dharma gifts, including the books "Lessons for Buddhists", “Good Examples in West and East”....

 The day of practice ended in the joy of the mass.
