Health examining, gift giving and creature freeing at Hau Giang

Through the open letter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at Truong Long A commune, chairman Nguyen Van Be Muoi Mot informed that Truong Long A is a remote commune of Chau Thanh A district, Hau Giang province. Life conditions of the people at here face the most difficult, including economy, housing ... The whole commune has 173 poor households and 326 near poor households, in which 124 households have the urgent wish about housing, hope to be supported from the donators.

Understanding resident’s difficulties at here, on the morning of December 30th, 2018 (lunar Nov. 24th, the year of dog), Venerable Thich Tam Hue and Buddhists of Hoang Phap Pagoda accompanying with the group examine health Nhan Dao at An Nghiep wards in Can Tho city, went to Truong Long A commune to provide healthy examination, gave medicine, glasses, and gifts to 300 poor people who are facing with difficult living, without economic conditions.

In the spirit of "Physicians as of a gentle mother", the doctors’ team devotedly helped residents to examine and cure diseases of the ears, nose, throat, joint diseases, gynecological examination, eye diseases examination, then the group donated glasses, medicine, and instruct on how to take medicine, how to prevent and cure some diseases.

After 4 hours of hard work with support of the local authority’s leaders to the  noon of the same day, the team examined 300 people, provided 300 portions of medicine, 180 sunglasses, each of part was VND 100,000. Total amount of medicine and glasses was worth VND 39,000,000.

Donating 300 portion of gifts, each of them is worth 200,000 VND, including of 10 kg of rice, 1 barrel of vegetarian noodles, 1 shirt, 1 Buddha necklace, 1 string of beads. The total amount of 300 parts is worth 60,000,000 VND.

The total amount of medicine money and 300  gifts portions is worth 99,000,000 VND, in which the delegation of Nhan Dao health examining supported 30,000,000 VND to buy medicine.

The doctors and patients were very happy, the Venerable Thich Tam Hue gave a gift portion of  teaching dharma, such as the book "A brief introduction about Hoang Phap Pagoda", "Four methods of touching to human’s heart, Calendar in 2019 of  the Senior abbot, Buddha necklace, chain of beads, etc, to the leaders of the local government, the doctors in the delegation.

Everyone was extremely happy to take souvenir photos with the Venerable.

The whole group came to Hau Giang market to buy some catfish, snakehead fish, eel, snail, and take refuge Three Jewels,  recite the Buddha’s name to free them into nature in cool water in Hau Giang river.

The delegation also visited the Minh Chat retreat in Can Tho for chanting and praying rebirth.

When meeting with the sick, the poor, we can recognize seven happiness that we often forget. They are as the gems that when we take out and use, we will feel happy. Seven happy things are: "I am alive, I have health, I have six senses, I have freedom, I have comfort and material, I have love, I have knowledge".

Let us: "Study according to the teachings of the Blessed One, that cultivate the mind and virtue, to turn His golden words into reality in life, step by step will convert "karma", will change awareness, then repent, avoid evil, sow good seeds, help the poor and the unhappy,etc., our life will have real and sustainable meaning."

Thank to the Donators and healthy examination team of An Nghiep Ward of Can Tho City, Mr. Viet as Truck driver, Mr. Quang as the driver of a passenger car, carried goods and travelers to safety, as well as Buddhists at home and abroad joined hands to contribute goods and money, helped the group's trip to be full success.
