Gift giving at Lang Nghiem Pagoda in Phu Yen

Receiving the invitation of Nun Ven. Thich Nu Tinh Man, Abbot of Lang Nghiem Pagoda (Song Cau, Phu Yen), Junior Ven. Thich Tam Hue and Buddhists at the Hoang Phap Pagoda came to offer and give gifts to the residents on Aug. 07th, 2019 (lunar July 07th, the Pig Year).

On the occasion of Ullambana season, Junior Ven. Thich Tam Hue shared Dharma to the Buddhists through the theme: “Gratitude and Repayment to Parents”.

By specific examples and evidences, Junior Ven. helped listeners better understanding of happiness by the gratitude and repayment. There are three aspects for us to respect the parents because of their merit, as of education, morality and wisdom. Next, he preached about the filial piety to parents in the material and spiritual aspects, the way to prepare for death and funeral fulfillment as well.

This occasion, the delegation gave 314 gift portions with a total amount of 78,500,000 VND to poor and near poor households. Each gift is worth 250,000 VND, including: 10 kg of rice, 1 envelope of 50,000 VND, 1 shirt and hat, 1 bottle of cooking oil, 1 bottle of soy sauce, 1 Buddha necklace, 1 string of beads.

At the same time, the delegation granted 100 gifts with a total amount of 11,000,000 VND to poor students. Each gift is worth 110,000 VND, including: 10 notebooks, 4 pens, 1 Buddha necklace, 1 string of beads.

A total of 400 gift portions were received to the localities worth of 89,500,000 VND.

On the way back, the delegation had a trip freeing creatures to Saigon River with a total amount of 9,500,000 VND.
