Vesak ceremony at Dong Cao - Thanh Hoa Province.

Within the atmosphere welcoming the Vesak Day, which is being taken place all over our country, from urban to countryside areas, from flat to mountainous areas and even on remote islands. Senior Ven. Thich Chan Tinh, Head Monk of Hoang Phap Pagoda in HoChiMinh city, accepted the invitation from Yen Khoai villagers and came to this one, of Nga Yen Commune, of Nga Son suburban village, of Thanh Hoa province. The Senior Venerable also asked some of his subordinate monks to join him and went to Dong Cao pagoda so as to organize the Vesak ceremony there.

In such a joyfulness and on the morning of 12 May, 2014 (14\r\nApril, Lunar calendar Horse year), hundreds of Buddhists gathered at Dong Cao\r\nPagoda, Yen Khoai Commune, Nga Yen Village, Nga Son suburban district, Thanh\r\nHoa province, to attend the Vesak Ceremony of 2558th Buddhist Calendar or 2014 th,\r\nAD.

“How joyful is the\r\ncoming out into life of the Buddha,

\r\n\r\n

How joyful is the\r\nbright Dharma has been handed down”

\r\n\r\n

At 9 o’clock sharp, two lines of Buddhists with their\r\nclasped hands to welcome the Buddhist dignitaries, the local authorities and\r\nvisitors coming to the altar hall.

\r\n\r\n

After three rolls of Prajna bell and wooden-drum\r\nrespectfully ask the Buddhist dignitaries to come to the rostrum, Monk Thich\r\nTam Manh stated the reasons for the ceremony and introduced the programmers to\r\nthe participants. Right after the national anthem and the Buddhist song, the\r\nentire participants spent a minute’s silence to pay homage to the Buddhist\r\nmartyrs and all those who have died for the country’s peace and the citizens’s\r\nhappiness.

To continue the ceremony program, young members of the Dong\r\nCao Pagoda Buddhist family respectfully offered fresh flowers to Buddha and the\r\nBuddhist dignitaries.

\r\n\r\n

 On behalf of the Buddhist Congregation, the supreme\r\nleader always sends an official note to the Buddhist dignitaries and Buddhists\r\nin honor of Vesak Day. At the ceremony Junior Ven. Thich Tam Hieu, Head Monk of\r\nAn Phap Pagoda read this note of this year. Following was the true meanings of\r\nthis holiday read by Junior Ven. Thich Tam Hung of Hoang Phap Pagoda. At the\r\nceremony, a local authority representative also offered some flower baskets to\r\nthe World Honored One on this holiday. In addition, the co-religionist Nguyen\r\nCong Tue, whose religionist name is Phuc Tue, on behalf of Nga Son Buddhists,\r\nin general, and Dong Cao Pagoda Buddhists, in particular, conveyed some words\r\nof confidences of his to the participants on Vesak season.

\r\n\r\n

 To continue the agenda, the present Buddhist\r\ndignitaries, visitors and Buddhists together performed the due ceremonies of\r\nthis holiday - setting pigeons free and performing the rite of bathing the\r\nBuddha.

\r\n\r\n

 At the end of the ceremony, uncle Nguyen Van Nguyen,\r\nchief of Yen Khoai village and master of the ceremony, on behalf of Nga Son\r\nvillage expressed many thanks to the Buddhist dignitaries, visitors and the\r\nlocal authorities and the Buddhists from everywhere as well.

 On this occasion, Hoang Phap Pagoda also gave each of\r\nthe Buddhists two VCDs  - one named “The owner of karma” and the other “The\r\nWind that moves the stir bamboo” -  both these two disks have been\r\npreached by Senior Ven. Thich Chan Tinh.
